It's Just Me and Emmylou

Ohhhh the amazing, talented, beautiful Emmylou Harris. She is one of the woman of country music that I admire the most. Her songwriting, her style (check out this vouge article on the oh so chic fashion of Emmylou) and the longevity of her career are all things I try to model in my own work. 

I also love love love that she has a Dog Rescue, Bonaparte's Retreat. Check out their website to learn more about the organization and how to donate, volunteer or even better, foster a dog yourself! I didn't know this was something she had started when I named my rescue chihuahua Emmylou, but it all makes my heart so happy!

Emmylou Harris' music has always been so inspiring to me. If you're looking for a record to start with I especially love Wrecking Ball. I've covered her songs in my shows for years so I figured I'd make a cover video of one of my favorite songs of her's, "Boulder to Birmingham." I've always loved this song and recently listened to an amazing episode of Malcom Gladwell's Revisionist History about why sad songs are the best songs! (AGREED!!!) He talks all about this song and it made me love it even more. Check out that episode here.
