Gibson Gonna Bankrupt ME
Well yesterday was a weird day. It started out SO incredibly exciting and then fell flat for sure.
See, yesterday, my guy THIS GUY, surprised me with my dream guitar. LITERALLY. I have wanted a Gibson J-200 for as long as I can remember. I actually put off buying a decent guitar for years thinking I'd play my crappy one until I could save up for the J-200. (Still over here saving...) It's the Emmylou Harris guitar also, which is the icing on the cake for a die hard fan girl like me!
So this was HUGE. The smile on my face as he was unwrapping the box was unreal. I was already in tears. (We got a GREAT deal from a friend who worked for Gibson so it was shipped in from Austin.... you know where this is going right?)

Anyway, as soon as Rick opened the guitar case I could tell something was wrong. The neck was odd looking. Sunken in. He pulled it out flipped it over and...
Yup. Broken Headstock. WHYYYYYYYYY??????!!!!!!! The box was pretty beat up so I guess we have Fed Ex to thank for that?
Poor thing, Rick was SO disappointed. This was not the dream surprise he had in mind. I told him again and again that it didn't change how sweet of a gift it was, that it was the nicest thing anyone had ever done for me. But I know he was so sad about it.
We deliberated all day on what to do. We could send it back to the guy and get our money back. Or pay $300-400 to get it fixed and pray it never happens again.
In the end we decided to keep it. We'll never find a deal that good on this guitar ever again, (J-200's are the Cadillac's of Gibson's) and after all, it is the dream. Sometimes your dreams just need a little love and extra TLC to get them on track. And I love that we're giving this beautiful girl new life. I just can't wait to play her!!!! And what a guy Rick Brantley is huh? 😍😍😍
